Existing FNS resources (data, knowledge and tools) for health and agri-food sciences are fragmented, lack critical mass, and access by user communities is ‘unevenly’ distributed. This means data are not readily found, accessible, interoperable or reusable, and existing services focus on clinical, molecular or biological sciences.
FNS-Cloud will develop an infrastructure and services to exploit food, nutrition and security data for a range of purposes, and integrate with the European Open Science Cloud.
Implementing core technologies, so data are findable and accessible
Programme of activities describing project outputs including FNS-Cloud Services
Data standardisation and interoperability, and services to support users in re-use
Open science and open innovation governance framework, and sustainable business model
Work-based learning is the most effective educational and training strategy for learning and innovation within professional fields, and uses guided and supervised enquiries into real-life ‘messy’ issues to develop academic, professional and technical skills whilst creating new knowledge in the application of theory into practice.
FNS-Cloud started on the 1st October 2019 with 35 beneficiaries from 14 countries, and is coordinated by RTDS Group (AT) with scientific coordination provided by Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB, UK).
FNS-Cloud is organised in eight work packages structured around (i) technical activities (WP2 -WP3), (ii) use cases and demonstrators (WP4-WP5), and (iii) supporting activities (WP6-8) and Management (WP1). A ninth WP is responsible for research ethics (WP9).
Food Nutrition Security Cloud (FNS-Cloud) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme (H2020-EU.3.2.2.3. – A sustainable and competitive agri-food industry) under Grant Agreement No. 863059.
